Waterproofing Solutions for Concrete Roofs - ShivamConChem

A concrete roof is often seen as a flat roof while concrete shingles have been getting some popularity for use on houses. Waterproofing coatings are used on various types of roofs to avoid leakage although sometimes, if not properly done, it can wear off sooner than you expect. According to some waterproofing solutions, a concrete roof is susceptible to the elements as a roof made from other materials and can also have a longer lifespan compared to other types of roofing.

Starting off with a clean surface is the first thing to do in order to waterproofing solutions a concrete roof. For waterproofing guarantee, it is best to remove debris as much as possible by using a push broom and dust pan. Concrete can crack and produce leaks just like other types of roofing materials but are also easier to repair and protect. First thing you have to do is look for any cracks, holes or breaks in the concrete roof. These areas are a prime spot for water to corrode the concrete further.

The silicone caulk and caulking gun are used to fill all of the holes and cracks. Some roofs are used as parking decks and this causes the concrete to wear out fast. The putty knife is for smoothing out the silicone as well as to push it further into the hole or crack. This should be done repeatedly until you are confident that the imperfections are sealed completely. Allow the silicone to dry before moving forward with waterproofing solutions.

Use a seam tape to cover any seams you find. Cover the entire seam with a piece of seam tape and make sure the seams are centered. Apply a coat of concrete primer to the roof then wait for the coat to dry and determine whether you should add a second coat or not. Pour the vapor barrier into a paint sprayer and apply an even coat to the roof.
